About

Volunteer

The Alex Theatre volunteer staff serves as a vital part of the experience for visitors to the Theatre. Volunteers serve functions such as greeting and directing patrons to their seats, scanning tickets, assisting guests with special needs, monitoring the audience during performances, and directing patrons in the event of an emergency.

A Volunteer Orientation for new ushers will be held at the Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA. The next orientation time and date is still pending. Please complete and submit the application below to be included as a volunteer for our upcoming season of dramas, concerts, ballets, musicals, films, and so much more.

Alex Ambassador Program Perks

Alex Ambassadors are invited to watch the shows they staff after all patrons have been seated and the House Manager releases them from duty. Additionally, each show an Ambassador works earns him or her points toward two free tickets AND entry into a monthly drawing for generous gift card giveaways. Alex Ambassadors also enjoy complimentary parking, refreshments, and baked goods during the performances.

Volunteering at the Alex Theatre is a great way for college and high school students to gain practical work experience in front-of-house theatre staffing. Hours volunteered at the Alex can be used toward the Community Service Award for Glendale High School students.

Here is a partial list of performances Ambassadors can attend for free, either by volunteering or earning credit toward tickets, pending availability:

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra
Los Angeles Ballet
Glendale Youth Orchestra
Musical Theatre Guild
Shakespearience
Alex Film Society
Live Talks Los Angeles with Special Guests
Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles
Holiday Concerts including The Nutcracker

And many more concerts, movies, plays, musicals, and dance performances including presentations in Armenian, Spanish, Tagalog, and other languages.
