Wild Honey Orchestra Plays

The Band: Big Pink & Beyond
For the Autism Think Tank

  • This event has passed.

On the heels of the Wild Honey Foundation’s acclaimed 2016 all-star Beach Boys’ 1967-77 Autism Benefit show (featuring Al Jardine & Micky Dolenz), Wild Honey Orchestra and Friends will tackle the music of THE BAND, Bob Dylan’s 1960s genius collaborators. The Band’s deeply influential and unforgettable first two records, ‘Music From Big Pink’ & ‘The Band,’ plus special bonus songs will be performed with the same level of love, passion, and stunning musicianship as the ensemble’s previous shows at the Alex Theatre. No musical detail will be spared as the Wild Honey Orchestra, once again led by Rob Laufer, will cut to the heart of these iconic songs (THE WEIGHT, CHEST FEVER, THE NIGHT THEY DROVE OLD DIXIE DOWN) with the help of a soulful, all-star collection of guest vocalists and instrumentalists from around the globe.

Chris Collingwood of Fountains of Wayne declared the Wild Honey Orchestra to be ‘just about the most cracking backup band I’ve ever heard…I told my friends that playing with that many amazing musicians behind me felt like piloting a 747.’

The three-hour plus show will benefit the Autism Think Tank (autismthinktanknj.com), a non-profit that brings together a team of top autism specialists, via an internet medical conference, to tackle the painful medical/psychological issues faced by kids like Wild Honey’s co-founder Paul Rock’s twelve-year-old son, Jake, a non-verbal autistic boy with extreme digestive distress and self-injury issues. While actively supporting various charitable causes, The Wild Honey Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, seeks to pass on the passion, creativity, and idealism found in rock, rhythm & blues, folk, and pop music to future generations through cultural events of all types.
