Korea Glendale Sister City Association Presents

THIRD ANNUAL COMMEMORATION OF "COMFORT WOMEN" DAY IN GLENDALE

The City of Glendale has proclaimed July 30th every year as the “Comfort Woman Day” in celebration of House Resolution 121 (HR121) passed by the US Congress on July 30, 2007.

This year marks the third year of commemorating the Comfort Woman Day and it is our wish to promote peace and educate the world on human rights violations that occurred during WWII in order to prevent any recurrences of similar atrocities.

In 2012, Glendale has honored the surviving comfort women grandmas (halmonees) with the Comfort Woman Day designation and in 2013, the Peace Statue was erected in the park next to the Central Library.  This year, Korea Glendale Sister City Association has prepared a cultural event in honor of these halmonees with the theme of “Do the Right Thing” as follows:

Commemoration Ceremony: 07/27,  7:00 – 9:00pm, Alex Theatre

Elected Officials from Glendale City including Mayor Sinanyan will be in attendance.
