Sponsored in part by Glendale Downtown Merchants Association, festivities begin at noon and include instrumental and choral live music, dancing, and holiday character performances for the general public. Craft activities are available for children, and vendors will offer holiday wares for gift giving. Nutcracker characters will offer a series of short dance classes for children who can then perform on stage and pose for pictures from 1:00-4:00pm.
The festival culminates in a professional performance at 7:00pm that offers the best of the holiday tradition with a few extra twists, including: Les Patineurs (‘The Skaters’) ballet originally choreographed by Frederick Ashton to music composed by Giacomo Meyerbeer & arranged by Constant Lambert; Disney’s Chris Trousdale in a holiday tap jingle; & leading artists of Pacific Ballet Dance Theatre in highlights from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. A private VIP reception will be held at 5:30pm inside the theatre.
