If you can’t find love in Venice, where can you find it? So thinks Leona Samish, an American spinster in search of the romance she’s been waiting for all her life. She does find it, but along the way falls into a canal, makes new friends and gets lied to, cheated on, stood up and drunk. Vacations and romances don’t always turn out the way one hopes. Although the only Rodgers/Sondheim collaboration was a rocky one, it produced a beautiful, smart, romantic score. From the funny (‘This Week Americans’ and ‘What Do We Do? We Fly!’) to the beautiful and haunting (‘Take the Moment’ and ‘Stay’). Oh, and then there’s this waltz…
