Gernot Wolfgang spotlights the artistry of LACO’s four longest-serving principals in a world premiere:
flute David Shostac – admired for his ‘nuanced and thrilling’ performances, oboe Allan Vogel – lauded as ‘an aristocrat of his instrument,’ horn Richard Todd – praised as ‘simply phenomenal’ and, celebrating his 40th anniversary season with LACO, bassoon Kenneth Munday – known for his ‘impressive fluent playing.’ In a magical feat that is the hallmark of his extraordinary tenure as LACO music director, ‘eloquent Mozartean’ Jeffrey Kahane conducts Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 from the keyboard. Joshua Ranz, a fifth LACO principal and an ‘edgy and exciting soloist,’ stars in the Mozart Clarinet Concerto.
