Music director Jeffrey Kahane opens the season with expanded LACO forces for a world premiere by Music Alive composer Derrick Spiva and Schubert’s expressive ‘Unfinished’ Symphony. Michael Barenboim, concertmaster of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, makes his Los Angeles debut performing the Beethoven Violin Concerto. Matching his impeccable musical heritage, Barenboim’s ‘technical precision and breezy sweetness’ make him one of the most talented and versatile artists of his generation.

7:00 PM – Pre-Concert Preludes – Ticket includes admission. Some Preludes feature LIVE performances of short chamber works. All provide interesting insights into the music and artists.  The September 19 prelude features a five-member African dance group, which will also perform during the post-show reception.
