Prokofiev Classical

  • This event has passed.

Joshua Roman, named a 2011 TED Fellow for his ongoing creative initiatives in classical music, has earned a national reputation for performing a wide range of repertoire with ‘virtuosic technique and quiet intensity.’ The Mason Bates Cello Concerto marks Roman’s LACO debut. Known as a ‘fresh and forceful talent’ and for probing and vibrant interpretations of music of all periods, Matthew Halls also leads the Orchestra in two of LACO’s signature symphonies, Prokofiev’s ‘Classical’ and Haydn’s ‘The Clock.’

Program includes:

Matthew Halls, conductor
‘creates an intimate luminosity’ (Salzburger Nachrichten)
Joshua Roman, cello
‘extraordinary technical and musical gifts’ (San Francisco Chronicle)

PROKOFIEV – Symphony No. 1 in D major, ‘Classical’
MASON BATES – Cello Concerto (Los Angeles premiere)
HAYDN – Symphony No. 101 in D major, ‘The Clock’
