Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Presents

Mozart Jupiter

  • This event has passed.

When last did you dream big – really reach for the stars? Mozart’s ‘Jupiter’ – as its name suggests – is a colossal, forward-looking work, one that sagely prefigures the scope and emotional depth of Beethoven’s music and other early Romantic works. Containing both gravity and joy, it stretches the bounds of the classical symphonic form. To what other heights, we wonder, might Mozart have taken us had he lived beyond his 36 years?

Joshua Weilerstein, just 27, already has three seasons as assistant conductor with the New York Philharmonic under his belt. He opens the program with Joseph Hallman’s Imagined landscapes: six Lovecraftian elsewheres and taps Armenian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan, who won the prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition in 2011, for a Concerto Saint-Saëns wrote at age 37.
Program includes:

Joshua Weilerstein, conductor
Narek Hakhnazaryan, cello
LACO debuts

JOSEPH HALLMAN – Imagined landscapes: six Lovecraftian elsewheres
SAINT-SAËNS – Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor
MOZART – Symphony No. 41 in C major, ‘Jupiter’

Programs and artists subject to change.

7:00 PM – Pre-Concert Preludes – Ticket includes admission. Some Preludes feature LIVE performances of short chamber works. All provide interesting insights into the music and artists.

Every person, regardless of age, must have a ticket.
