Now celebrating his 70th year, John Adams describes The Wound Dresser as a ‘statement of human compassion’ (The New York Times ). ‘Dynamic’ Uruguayan conductor Carlos Kalmar moves us from shadow into light with Rossini’s lively Overture and the sixth of Haydn’s dazzling ‘London’ symphonies. Listen for the allusion to ‘God Save the King’ which delighted Haydn’s audiences at the premiere!
