National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia

Created in 1962, the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia [NCOA] celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012. Thanks in large part to its first director, Zareh Sahakiants, NCOA rapidly developed an outstanding reputation for the quality of its musicianship and programming and received an enthusiastic welcome not only from audiences in Armenia but also in what was then the USSR and inother international concert halls. Over the years NCOA has toured extensively, appearing to great acclaim on many of the world’s most famous stages and at international festivals; most recently, NCOA has participated in several festivals held in France and Switzerland this year on the occasion of Aram Khachaturian 110th anniversary celebrations. A large portion of the orchestra’s repertoire is dedicated to Armenian music, including debut performances of works by many Armenian composers, along with works by various European and Russian composers.

Led by conductor/pianist Vahan Mardirossian, Artistic Director & Principal Conductor since 2011, the orchestra’s program selections include:

MOZART – Divertimento in D Major

TCHAIKOVSKI – Serenade

KOMITAS-ASLAMAZYAN – Manranvagner

ALTUNYAN – Khatchaturiana
