Korea Glendale Sister City Association Presents

FOURTH ANNUAL COMMEMORATION OF "COMFORT WOMEN" DAY IN GLENDALE

  • This event has passed.

The City of Glendale has proclaimed July 30th every year as the “Comfort Woman Day” in celebration of House Resolution 121 (HR121) passed by the US Congress on July 30, 2007.

This year marks the fourth year of commemorating the Comfort Woman Day and it is our wish to promote peace and educate the world on human rights violations that occurred during WWII in order to prevent any recurrences of similar atrocities.

In 2012, Glendale honored the surviving comfort women grandmas (halmonees) with the Comfort Woman Day designation and in 2013, the Peace Statue was erected in the park next to the Central Library. For the second consecutive year, Korea Glendale Sister City Association has prepared a cultural event in honor of these halmonees with the theme of “Do the Right Thing.”
