Starts at 8:00 PM
Groove to the distinctive clarinet riff which opens Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Both Gershwin and his contemporary, Copland, melded together jazz and folk within a more traditional format, helping to smash musical barriers and establish a uniquely American sound. Dvorák's Serenade further demonstrated the extraordinary finess of LACO's wind players, and you'll hear Son of Chamber Symphony by John Adams, possibly the 'most vital and eloquent composer in American' (The New Yorker).

The evening's program includes:

Jeffrey Kahane, conductor & piano

JOHN ADAMS - Son of Chamber Symphony
COPLAND - Appalachian Spring Suite (original 1944 version)
GERSHWIN - Rhapsody in Blue (original 1924 version)
DVORÁK - Serenade for Winds, Op. 44

Programs and artists subject to change.

7:00 PM - Pre-Concert Preludes - Your ticket includes admission to this pre-concert extra. Some Preludes will feature LIVE performances of short chamber works. All will provide interesting insights into the music and the artists.
