Gather with other Baroque lovers on Bach’s birthday weekend. Our concert celebrates the incredible variety of this revered composer’s repertoire. Making her Los Angeles debut, the sensational Sasha Cooke interprets the dark intensity and touching beauty of the rarely performed Cantata and famous Aria, and the Orchestra revels in the festive brilliance of Suite No. 3. Jeffrey Kahane conducts the opening Concerto from the piano and brings his masterful touch to the Suite’s beloved Air on the G String. This concert is pure gold!

Mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke caused a sensation in her 2008 Metropolitan Opera debut as Kitty Oppenheimer in John Adams’ Doctor Atomic. The New York Times praises her “rich, supple sound and passionate delivery,” “aching, wistful intensity” and “expressive, amber-hued voice.”
